RECTOR's BIO

Lomah Rita Bisi is a passionate educator, scientist, and leader, committed to empowering students and advancing education and public health through knowledge and mentorship. She currently serves as the Rector of Coastal Polytechnic, a role she earned through hard work, credibility, and a steadfast dedication to academic excellence and administrative leadership.

Born in Erinje, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Rita was raised in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Lagos, where she completed her secondary education at Gaskiya Secondary School. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, between 2006 and 2010.

Driven by a deep interest in drug discovery and natural medicine, she pursued a Master of Science in Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Therapeutics at the University of Lagos, graduating in 2015. Her postgraduate research focused on pharmacognosy, the study of medicinal plants and their therapeutic potential.

Rita’s professional journey began in the pharmaceutical industry as a Sales Representative at Phillips Pharmaceutical Company, where she was responsible for distributing pharmaceutical products and supporting healthcare providers with accurate drug information. During her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year, she taught Biology at Amassoma Secondary School, Bayelsa State, helping shape young scientific minds.

She has also served the Lagos State Government as a volunteer teacher under the EKO Programme, teaching Mathematics and Biology for four years. Additionally, she trained secondary school students on natural resource conservation and management, integrating environmental awareness with education.

Throughout her career, Rita has mentored students in career development, science education, and academic excellence. She holds a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Level 3 Certification, reinforcing her commitment to safe, ethical practices in both educational and laboratory settings.

Rita is recognized for her result-oriented mindset, honesty, diligence, and resilience—traits that have earned her respect and advancement in every role she has undertaken. Her passion for science, service, and leadership continues to inspire the next generation of professionals.
