CHAIRMAN'S BIO

Professor Okwuashi Alexander Favor was born in the early 1960s in Burutu, Delta State. Although there was no official birth registration system at that time, his birth was recorded in the family register as July 4, 1961. He was born to the family of the late Ogbunyi Raphael Ogbolu, who was married to Mrs. Omakwu Beatrice Okwuashi of Ila Umugwu Village in Ila Town, Oshimili- North LGA Delta State.

He began his formal education at Ila mixed grammar school and later proceeded to the Institute of Education, University of Benin, graduating from 1981 to 1984. He fulfilled his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) obligations at Government Secondary School, Kuta, Niger State. His early career included brief service at Nigerian Bank for Commerce and Industry. He later joined Global Shipping Lines as Commercial Manager and Delta Ocean Lines and Marine Services Limited as Managing Director in 1992 also served as the Dean of the Sandwich (Part-Time) Program CISN/LAUTECH.

Driven by a deep passion for shipping and marine operations, Professor Okwuashi furthered his academic and professional training. He advanced his education at Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH), earning Bachelor OF Engineering(B.Eng, M.Eng, Phd inMarine Engineering Transportation , earlier he earned a Master degree in Business Administration Management from Delta State University (1996). He also holds Master degree in Transport Management (Shipping) LAUTECH, Ph.D. in Marine Transportation and logistics management , Ph.D. in Marine Transport and Logistics Management CRUTECH

Professor Okwuashi is a distinguished fellow and member of several professional bodies: Fellow, Chartered Institute of Shipping, Fellow, Institute of Security of Nigeria,Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration. Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE). He served as Chairman Oshimili North LGA Delta State Between 2003 To 2004. Prof. Okwuashi receive an honorary doctorate degree (DSH) in shipping (CAUSA)From Technological University Of America Suriname and subsequently was confirmed with a professor of maritime administration by The University Of Technology America(TUA) 2012 with an investiture held in 2015 by The President Of The University .

He is the founder of the Certified Institute of Shipping of Nigeria and Coastal Polytechnic Lagos Nigeria ,those institutions contribute to the growth of maritime education and coastal security in Nigeria. Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Professor Okwuashi Alexander Favor is a seasoned teacher, mentor, and trainer. He has organized and participated in numerous local and international conferences, including notable ones such as CONSAC and MOWCA, among others. His lifelong commitment to knowledge, discipline, and service expands through four decades that continues to inspire generations of students and maritime professionals.
