Okwuashi Theresa Ashiedu is a dedicated healthcare professional and community leader with extensive experience in nursing, midwifery, social work, and family health. Her educational background reflects a commitment to lifelong learning and service.
Theresa’s educational journey began at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where she earned her Registered Nursing Certificate between 1987 and 1990. She then advanced her career with a Registered Midwife Certificate from the School of Midwifery, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), completing her studies from 1995 to 1996.
Her academic pursuit continued at Divine Healing Bible School International, where she obtained a Diploma in Theology in 1998, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Theology in 2001, Bachelor in Nursing Science and a Master in Theology in 2004.
Theresa then expanded her expertise into social work, earning an M.Sc in Social Work (Healthcare Option) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho in 2009. This was followed by an M.Sc in Family Nursing from the University of Calabar in 2012.
In 2014, she pursued a B.Sc in International Relations from the Institut Superieur De Formation Professionnelle (ISFOP-Benin University), showcasing her versatile academic interests.
Her commitment to advancing in the nursing field led her to pursue a Ph.D. in Family Nursing at the University of Calabar 2024.In addition to her degrees, Theresa holds various certifications, including a Fellowship (FCIS) from the Certified Institute of Shipping of Nigeria. Also a trustee member of CISN, as a scholar she has a lot of publication to her credit like Post-Abortion Care, Focused Antenatal Care, and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives.
She is multilingual, fluent in English and Igbo, with working knowledge of Yoruba and Hausa. Her interests include charity work, volunteering, scientific research, and community engagement. Driven by a deep sense of purpose, her overarching goal is to “touch mankind and help the less privileged achieve greater heights.”
